Children vs Adults

Using the correct phrases is important if you don’t want to sound like a child.

  • “I played with my friends in Umeda” Sounds like a child is going to play at the park
  • “I hung out with my friends in Umeda” Sounds like someone young
  • “I went out for dinner with my friends in Umeda” Sounds a little more mature

 

  • “I drank alcohol last night” Sounds like someone who celebrated their 20th birthday.
  • Better ----> “I drank last night”

 

 

  • “I saw daddy last week” Sound like a child
  • Better ----> “I saw my father last week”

 

  • “It is like so cool” Sounds like someone from high school.
  • Better ----> “It is so cool”

 

  • "It was yummy!" Sounds like a child.
  • Better ----> "It was really good" / "It was really tasty"
