Use this restaurant conversation to help you next time you are abroad.

W = Wait Staff / C = Customer

At the entrance: 

  • W:   Welcome!  Do you have a reservation?
  • C:    No.
  • W:   How many people?
  • C:    1.
  • W:   Smoking or non smoking?
  • C:    Non smoking please.
  • W:   Please follow me.

At the table:

  • W:   Please have a seat.  Here is the menu.
  • C:    Thank you.
  • W:   Would you like something to drink?
  • C:    Yes.  Could I please have a glass of house wine?
  • W:   Certainly.
  • W:   Here you are
  • C:    Thank you
     
  • W:   May I take your order ?
  • C:    Yes.  Could I have a garden salad and a fillet steak?
  • W:   Certainly.  For the salad would you prefer Caesar, French or Italian dressing?
  • C:    Caesar please
  • W:    For the steak would you prefer rare, medium or well done?
  • C:    Medium please.  
  • W:    Anything else?
  • C:    No thank you.
     
  • W:   Here is the garden salad and medium steak.  Please enjoy your meal!
  • C:    Thank you.
  • W:   You’re welcome.
     
  • C:    Excuse me.  Bill please.
  • W:   Please wait a moment.  
  • W:   Here you are.
  • C:    Thank you.

At the exit:

  • W:    Thank you for coming this evening.  I hope you enjoyed your meal and we hope to see you again soon!
  • C:    Thank you.
