英会話のコツ: So vs Such

Sometimes students use “so” before nouns or verbs, but we can’t.  Let’s use so correctly!

Common mistakes:

  • That is a so big car
  • Today is a so hot day
  • The restaurant is so amazing restaurant

So + Adjective

We use “so” in front of adjectives and adverbs, but not before nouns and verbs.
Examples:

  • The car is so big
  • Today is so hot
  • The restaurant is so amazing

Such + Adjective + Noun

We use “such” in before adjectives and nouns.  
Examples:

  • That is such a big car
  • Today is such a hot day
  • It is such an amazing restaurant.
