Star Wars is a very important in modern western culture. Almost everyone in Australia and almost every foreigner I’ve met in Japan loves it. The movies are not the best, but they have a certain charm. There are references made to Star Wars almost every day.
I remember my dad renting the videos when I was a 5 or 6. A few years later my uncle took me to see the remasters at the cinema. Luckier still, I won the remastered episodes video tapes in a Coro Coro Comics competition. Episodes 4, 5 & 6 are some of my favourite movies. The characters are memorable, the design is original and the story was simple, but grand.
I was so happy to be able to watch Episode 7 on the opening night with Tyler. When we arrived at the cinema we saw people who were dressed up as Star Wars characters.
We saw a father dressed as a Jedi and his son who was dressed as Yoda. There was a huge line for Star Wars merchandise. I didn’t expect Star Wars to be so popular in Japan.
We had high expectations for the movie and I believe the movie answered them. It had good acting, humour, CGI (computer graphics) and a mesmerising story. We both enjoyed the movie. It has become one of my favourite movies and I hope you see it too!
