It’s becoming warmer in Senrioka, in Australia March is in autumn. It gets cooler and the leaves start to fall, but it’s much nicer than Japan’s autumn.
During Autumn Australians celebrate Easter. Easter is a Christian holiday, but it is celebrated by most Australians, especially children. Most businesses give 3 days off. The Easter holiday is similar to Golden Week.
Australians love to travel and the Easter Holiday is a great chance to travel. New Zealand, Bali and Thailand are very popular destinations. Most of my friends travel during this period, come back and complain that they don’t have any money left.
From mid February, shops start selling chocolate Easter eggs and rabbits. They are usually wrapped in cute aluminium foil and are almost always hollow. It is a good excuse to buy chocolate. I like waiting until the end of Easter and buying Easter chocolate on sale.
Wine and cheese festivals are popular during this time of the year, but the Easter show is the biggest event in Sydney. It is like an American County Fair, but Australian. There are rides, food stalls and lots of farm related events. Farmers race to chop wood and shear sheep wool. Children buy fun bags that contain chocolate and toys. In Melbourne they host the Formula One.
Overall Autumn is a very nice time to visit the bottom half of Australia, especially for people who prefer cool climates.
